Most of us, at one time or another, have dreamt about being Indiana Jones in one of his many adventures: crossing a hanging bridge or trying to get through a myriad of caves. This type of activity, until recently, was only for brave adventurers but now anyone can take on the role of hero Indiana Jones.
Pangea Active Nature is one of the Malaga companies which offers adventure sport tourism in completely natural surroundings. In the Ronda mountains it’s possible to go canyoning, potholing and canoeing as well as hill walking and cycling. Pangea also have a multiadventure tour in which one can try a bit of everything: climbing, zipline and abseiling.
There are sports for all tastes and levels. For example a trip into the Cueva del Gato can involve going right down into the depths or can be limited to the entrance area and everyone is given the necessary equipment - in this case a neoprene dry-suit and socks.
This activity costs 41 Euros per person for groups of between seven and nine people and lasts three or four hours, which is plenty time to spot bats, stalagmites and stalactites, and to abseil. Other activities include trekking through the Garganta Verde for 42 Euros and ravining in the Sima del Diablo for 39 Euros. These sports involve a certain measure of risk and therefore there are companies which opt to provide adventure weekends and teambuilding events for their employees. In this case, Pangea provides a complete package including hotels and restaurants with a tailored programme of outdoor activities.
Originality
However, it’s not only executives who get rid of their adrenaline - couples and whole families also take part in adventure tourism. But the latest trend is for stag and hen parties to have a go. Groups of guys or girls may decide to surprise their friends with a morning of canoeing, canyoning or multi-adventure during which fun is guaranteed.
Pangea operates in the Ronda countryside, which takes in some areas of the Cadiz province such as the Grazalema fir forest and Zahara de la Sierra. This company deals with special requests and therefore no-one should be surprised to see them strolling along the Marbella or Estepona beaches. They provide the experts and the equipment and the clients provide the motivation and the energy which is a formula for pure adventure.
The Ronda mountains are the perfect setting for these type of activities as it is surrounded by three natural parks. “You don’t have to go the Catalonia to do canoeing, rafting and mountaineering, we’ve got it all here” say the Pangea managers.
