Chinese worker dies in Malaga cement factory

 

It’s been revealed that the foreign worker who was at first said to be seriously injured when he became trapped on the production line at La Araña cement factory has, in fact, died.

He has been identified as Yang Renjie. He was 24 years old and was from China.

According to union UGT, he was soldering the inside of a tubular structure when the gases which had accumulated inside it ignited.

The union have said they will report his death to the prosecution service. The union reported the conditions of more than a hundred Chinese workers to the prosecution service last September, who they say were working on conversion work at the factory with insufficient training in health and safety.

A press release from the Sociedad Financiera y Minera company which runs the plant has recitified an earlier release which said the man was inspecting the quality of soldering on the inside of the tubular structure. They have yet to release any details on the cause of the tragedy.
