No one is satisfied with the government’s recently announced draft law on store opening hours, which reduces them from a maximum of 90 hours to 72. It allows regional governments to decide how many public holidays can be worked, with a minimum of eight and a maximum of 12. The National Distributors Association says the law ignores consumer needs and will mean a loss of 7,000 jobs in hypermarkets. The National Federation of Self-employed Workers approves of the law, because it upholds the interests of small shop owners.
