The progress of the high-speed rail link between Madrid and Malaga has passed another milestone, with the completion of the line between Cordoba and Bobadilla. Passenger services over the first hundred kilometres south from Cordoba, are likely to begin by the end of next year. The stretch from Bobadilla to Malaga is due to be completed in 2007. This will immediately reduce the Malaga to Madrid journey from the present four and a quarter hours to three hours. When the full AVE services begin, a non-stop journey from Malaga to Madrid will take two hours and fifteen minutes.
