Holiday World brings the Caribbean to the Costa del Sol

Guests will pay a fixed sum enabling them to enjoy all the facilities in the complex including food and drinks, a departure from traditional hotels

The first Caribbean-style “all inclusive” hotel, Holiday Village, opens on the Costa del Sol tomorrow, May 1st. This is just the first of ten hotels in a Holiday World complex that the Peñarroya group is building in Benalmádena. The licence to run the complex for ten years has been awarded to the British tour operator First Choice.

The new hotel, a four-star establishment with 360 rooms sleeping 1,800 people, has involved an investment of 100 million euros. “The Caribbean model”, said Cristóbal Peñarroya, “is the future of this resort”.

Holiday World is a departure from traditional family-style hotels in that guests pay a fixed sum which gives them the right to enjoy all the services in the hotel, including food and drinks. This system is widely used in Caribbean countries and on the islands.

Around 600 million euros is being invested in the whole complex, which will have 2,051 rooms, sleep 10,255 and cover an area of 400,000 square metres. It is planned to include a bridge to a beach club for the exclusive use of hotel guests. In addition there will be a water park, games rooms and a sports area.

“This complex will be at the forefront of tourist facilities on the coast as there is nothing similar in the province of Malaga”, explained Sr Peñarroya.
