In two years it won’t be necessary to travel to Seville to visit the popular Swedish furniture shop, founded in 1943.
Ikea have announced that they will open their Malaga superstore in 2006 on a 27,000 square metre site beside the Plaza Mayor entertainment centre.
The company specialises in reasonably priced, modern and functional flat pack furniture as well as soft furnishings and accessories for the home. IKEA says it is able to offer competitive prices because of the savings in transport and assembly costs.
At an extra cost however, a delivery service is now available .
People in Malaga are already familiar with Ikea products which are used to style houses in many popular television programmes including “Big Brother”. The new IKEA in Malaga will be the tenth in Spain, will create 350 new jobs and mean an investment of 50 million euros.
