The government has started contacts with coastal town halls in the region saying that all ‘chringuito’ beach bars must be removed off the sand by 2008.
New national regulations declare the beaches of Spain to be public land, and hence the bars and restaurants have to be moved, and new hygiene regulations are also to be enforced.
Meanwhile the programs to regenerate the beaches of the Costa del Sol are said to be progressing well, with all beaches ready for the Easter season. Measures are also in hand to add more sand if the beaches are hit by another storm before then.
