The town planning member of the Marbella Committee now running the town, Rafael Duarte, has said that most of the building works which were ordered to be halted in their time by the Andalucian High Court are still to be taped up and that many of them are now inhabited.
He said the fact that they were occupied would not present a problem to the procedure and that they were already studying the issuing of eviction orders, although he admitted that the process would be detailed and slow.
He said the rights of the residents would have to be considered, and matters such as how long they have been living in the building would be important. He noted however that in many cases there was no first occupation licence in place, and that means simply that legally they cannot be occupied.
Meanwhile the first new licences for construction in the town are expected to be issued on Friday.
