The health authorities are increasing the number of staff available at medical centres on the Costa del Sol to meet the extra demand during the summer months, and there will also be more beds in the observation wards of hospital emergency departments because of the increase in population at the height of the tourist season. Twenty extra doctors, fourteen nurses and eight auxiliary staff have been taken on and will be working at health centres in the busiest areas of the coast, and all major hospitals will be keeping some of their beds in reserve, to be used if necessary.
