The Mayor and town planning councillor of Rincón de la Victoria have been called to court on 16th May, to answer charges in a criminal complaint brought by the former Mayor of the Town, José María Gómez Muñoz.
He accuses Francisco Salado, the Partido Popular Mayor, and José Jesús Domínguez Palma of perversion of the course of justice by, he says, failing to act in a town planning crime allegedly committed by the Mayor’s sister and brother-in-law. Gómez, who is now spokesman for the PADE party, says he ordered the couple to stop construction of a house they were building on land not classified for development in early 2003.
He was voted out as Mayor in the May elections that year, and Salado came in as Town Planning Councillor. Gómez alleges that Salado cancelled the order to demolish the building and allowed construction to continue.
He says that Domínguez, as Mayor, imposed another fine on the couple in 2004, and issued another demolition order the following year. ‘Payment of the fine has not been demanded, nor has the building been demolished,’ says Gómez.
