The second cold spell of the winter swept down to Andalucía from the north this week, sending thermometers in the region down to five degrees below zero in some places. Several roads in Motril and Almuñécar were blocked by snow and ice, while in Adra and El Ejido beaches and boats moored in the harbour were covered with a white mantle after Wednesday night’s snowfall, something the residents had not seen “for over 30 years”.
