Spanish movie "The Sea Inside" added to its growing list of honours by winning best picture and best actor at the Bangkok International Film Festival on Friday.
The Alejandro Amenabar film, based on the real-life story of a tetraplegic battling to end his life, had already won best foreign-language movie at Hollywood's Golden Globe awards last week while lead actor Javier Bardem was also named best actor at the Venice film festival.
Neither Amenabar or Bardem were present to receive their Golden Kinnaree awards at the ceremony, taking place under the shadow of last month's tsunami disaster which killed more than 5,000 people in Thailand and nearly 220,000 across Asia.
Best actress was shared by Annette Bening for "Being Julia" and Ana Geislerova ("Zelary") while American director Joel Schumacher ("Falling Down", "The Phantom of the Opera") won a lifetime achievement award.
France's Christophe Barratier ("Les Choristes") and Korea's Park Chan-chook ("Old Boy") shared the best screenplay award.
Hollywood luminaries Michael Douglas, Jeremy Irons and Miranda Richardson were among the guests while Belgian action star Jean-Claude Van Damme, immaculate in a white suit and accompanied by his son, was also present.
Hong Kong director Wong Kar-Wai ("Happy Together", "In the Mood for Love", "2046"), also received an award for promoting Asian cinema.
"It's a great honour, I want to share this honour with my Thai colleagues," said Wong.
Thai director Vichit Kounavudhi, who died in 1997, was awarded a posthumous Golden Kinnaree, the trophy named after a half-woman, half-bird mythical Thai creature.
