At the recent Salón del Inmobiliario conference held in Madrid, Engel & Völkers, affiliate of Christie’s Great Estates and a rapidly expanding real estate firm with 110 offices in 13 countries and 23 real estate shops in Spain alone, made a presentation revealing the results of detailed research into the German property buyers market. The studies showed an increased German interest in purchase in almost all parts of the market, particularly in Mallorca, where in some areas, the demand from German buyers doubled. The German share of clients in Spain is 30 per cent and the trend is increasing, with demand in all price segments starting from €200.000. The studies on the area of Marbella in particular revealed that there is a demand both for apartments and more exclusive properties as well as an increased interest in re-sales. Buyers are 50 per cent British, 30 per cent German and 20 per cent from other nations. With respect to German buyers, the demand is rising again, especially for apartments in the €250.000-€500.000 range and for exclusive properties with a starting price of €1.200.000.
